Network Addon Mod

Hi, I hope everyone had a nice “Memorial Day” Weekend. God Bless our troops past, present and future.

I have not used any “Mods” (unless Rush Hour counts as a Mod?), but I’ve downloaded a Network Addon Mod Simtropolis.

A lot of transportation think can be done with it.

Here are the pictures that came with it. I’m going to use them on some of my congested neighborhoods.

Diagonal Roads and Adding Diagonal Train Tracks

Making an Elevated Subway

Making tighter bridges?

Making Traffic circle.

Pedistrain Mall

There are more items the comes with that mod,
Like curved roads and Highways.
I haven't used any of the new tools yet,
but I'm looking forward to it.

Thanks, Louie

I’m working on the tours and I really
want to pass 400,000 in population.

So I think I'll do some work on the city
before I continual the Tour.

Energy Crisis in Main Town North

Energy Crisis in Main Town North

Sim Date 01.17.293
Population 382,314

I have experienced a power warning. I have two Power Plants
(both are hydrogen and both are getting old and expensive to use).

The North Plant
Cost $17,076
Condition 60%
Actual capacity 33071Mwh/mo
Actual Usage 28596 Mwh/mo
Capacity used 86%
Cost per Mwh $.46

The South Plant
Cost $19,948
Condition 42%
Actual capacity 23,550 Mwh/mo
Actual Usage 20,363 Mwh/mo
Capacity used 86%
Cost per Mwh $.71

Buying Power from:

City of Industry North 6,000 Mwh $1446
Cost per Mwh $.24

Selling Power to:

Centertown 4000 Mwh $2391
Price per Mwh $.60
East Centertown 9000 Mwh $5708
Price per Mwh $.63
North Western town 2000 Mwh $1201
Price per Mwh $.60

I am way to greedy to stop selling power that I’m buying cheaper than I’m selling it for!

So for a quick fix I bought more Power From:

City of Industry South 3,012 Mwh $829
Cost per Mwh $.28

Apx. Power Capacity 65,000 Mwh/mo
Apx. Current Power use 58,000 Mwh/mo

I can’t buy anymore power. I can sell 2000 more Mwh
I may get greedy, build a new power plant and sell more power???
I’ll need a new plant soon anyway.
It may even take care of my $9800 budget deficit

Tour of Main Town North, 3rd St. Part 1

Downtown Ville and Downtown Park

Sim Date 08.11.292

Population 377,103

3rd St. is located on the west side of Main Town North
and runs North and South.

I’ll start at the south end of 3rd St.
and work northward through Downtown,
passing the University and Uptown area.
Through the I-499 Industrial Zone and
exiting the city on the north end of 3rd St.

Picture #1 is a wide angle view of the SW corner of
Main Town North.

3rd St. at the bottom doesn’t connect to the city below. I think I had traffic problems there and ended the connection.

You can also see lots of landmark buildings in the Downtown area, although I’m not going to tour Downtown in this post.

In this post, I'll tour the two residential areas south of Downtown,
Downtown Villa and Downtown Park.

Picture #1

Picture #2 the traffic in this area is very green which is good.
I was surprised that some of the Bus Stops where over used?

Picture #2

Picture #3 is Downtown Villa just to the west of 3rd St..
2nd St actual run through Downtown Villa.

Although the traffic map was mostly Green,
three of the bus stops where over used.

The Bus Stop in the center of Villa was the worst with:
3015 passenger usage
1000 passenger capacity

But the Bus Stop a block away:
18 passenger usage
1000 passenger capacity

The Subway to the north of the Villa:
0 passenger usage
2000 passenger capacity

The Subway to the south of the Villa is productive:
573 passenger usage
2000 passenger capacity

Picture #3

Picture #4 Is an Eastern view of Downtown Villa.

Picture #4

Picture #5 is Downtown Park just to the east of 3rd St..
4th St. run through Downtown Park.

Bus Stop #3 is the only over used:
1842 passenger usage
1000 passenger capacity

Traffic is OK so no need to worry about it for now.
The other 4 Bus Stops range from 140 to 856 passengers

Tour of Main Town North, 19th Street

Sim Date 09.12.291
Population 378,782

I'm going to go down 19th. St., from North to South.

If your not sure of the location of 19th. St.
The North end starts near the NE corner of
the city. (21st. St. is the farthest East Road).
Runnig Southward with commercial zones on both sides
to the Airport (along the East side of the Airport).
Then through the Airport Industrial Area and
exiting the city on the South.

In picture #1 heading south you see a little ballpark on the left.
On the Right is a

Elementary School
237 students
375 capacity

Bus Stop just south of the school
130 passenger usage
1000 passenger capacity

Passenger Train station
to the left
6 passenger usage
2000 passenger capacity
(not much traffic, but it should increase)

Picture #1

In Picture #2 as 19th St. goes past the Train Station, I've used an
elevated Highway to bridge the Rail Road tracks.
At the south end of the bridge.

Bus Stop
364 passenger usage
1000 passenger capacity

Police Station
8 inmates
60 cell capacity

I will have to check my police funding, I maybe able to lower it.

Fright Train Station
0 tons usage
2000 Tons capacity

I have a few Train Shipping docks that have no usage.
I'm not sure if I should get rid of them or just wait for traffic?

Picture #2

In picture #3 19th St. goes under the I-502 HWY

I-502 HWY
230 car traffic
278 bus traffic

Bus Stop
1707 passenger usage
1000 passenger capacity

I've added a new Bus Stop just to the left of that one.
(I will update the progress of those Bus Stops).
I could probably add some trees or Park in that open strip.

Bus Stop
105 passenger usage
1000 passenger capacity

Hospital
2563 patients
2729 capacity

Bus Stop
186 passenger usage
1000 passenger capacity

You can also see 20th St, in these pictures.
On the other side of 20th just past the
I-502 is an unnamed industrial zone that
will run southward to the AirPort where it will
become part of the Airport Industrial Area.

Picture #3

In picture # 4 19th St. goes past Lake Luther Rd.
You can see two abondon buildings. I have trouble
keeping Residential property there and in the
Neighborhood just to the south in picture #5
I see a Bus Stop on 19th St. and 2 Bus Stops near 19th St.
But must have miss them when I was collecting the
Information for this set or pictures.

Picture #4

In picture #5 19th St. runs past Tower rd. (for CN Tower).
The other (unnamed Neighborhood)
that has trouble keeping population.
The CN Tower in just to the west of these hoods,
So when I name them it will probably have
something to do with that.

Bus Stop
186 passenger usage
1000 passenger capacity

Bus Stop
26 passenger usage
1000 passenger capacity

Elementary School
149 students

1000 passenger capacity

Hospital
1205 patients
1319 capacity

That was a long trip down 19th Street. I would look at
getting rid of some of the train stations, but my money
situation is in good shape (over $5 million).

I think I’ll start a trip down 3rd St. next, but I may do it in
Segments. It took a long time to do 19th St. in one post.
3rd St runs North to South through Uptown and
The Downtown areas.

Tour of Main Town North, East Side

Some Points of Interest,

Lake Luther, Small lake in the north area, I 502 goes around it.

Lake Adam Zoo and Lake Adam Golf Course in North Point.
The Golf Course is on the shore of Lake Adam.
The Zoo is just north of it.
I may try to make North Point my new Downtown Area?

There's a Movie Studio in East Adam Lake Beach.
South East of the golf course.

CN Tower and CN Tower Commercial Zone in the North East Area,
Between 17th Street on the East and I 519 on the west.
The commercial area isn't growing as much as I had hoped.
The Residential areas to the south and the east don't grow much eather.
They just seem to have building go up and shortly after get abandon.

Cody Road International Airport in the South East area.
Also a lot of Pollution from Airport Industrial Park

Photo of East Side

Next I'm going to take a more in-depth look at 19th St.
It run North and South on the East side of the Airport.
There is a lot of commercial development on 19th also.

See Ya real soon, Thanks Louie

Airport City Traffic Improvements

Airport City Traffic Improvements

Date- 11.26.289
Population- 377,396

I've decide to work on the Airport City Traffic Problems.
Here is a view looking Eastward at Airport City.
I'm going to extend the 2 Lane road to go completely
around Airport City.

Before Road Improvements

After Road Improvements

Although my population is down
(dropped below 370,000 for a minute).
It looks like Airport City is experiencing more growth.

But S. Cody Rd Sub-division has lost a lot of buildings.
I may need to adjust the zones there?

Here is a traffic map of Airport City.

Improvements have helped traffic in Airport City,
but not so much on the center road of Airport City.
It also looks like Main St.
is going to need some more work soon (east of 16th St).
Both Main St. and Airport City will need some more work,
but there both O.K. for now.

I'm going to check Health funding, Education funding and
Knock down any abandon builds I can find.

I think I'll do a more in-depth tour of Main Town North
for my next entry.

16th Street HWY Improvements Part 2

16th St HWY Second Improvement

Date- 05.11.288
Population- 382.203

Here is what I started with.
Traffic problems on Cory rd and
16th Street.

(Photo #10014)

My first attempted improvement, was adding a HWY and exit ramps.

The exit ramps were an experment and I really hoped they would work,
but as you can see. It Improved traffic on Cody and 16th,
but worsened it in the local neighborhoods.

(#10013)

So I decided to a build a side road along the 16th St HWY and remove the exit ramps.

It took a lot of space, but worked pretty well.

I also made the traffic circle at Cody and 16th a 2 Lane instead of a 1 Lane circle.

Here is a wide angle traffic photo of the area. It shows 16th and Cody rd,
that has turned out just awesome.
On the left you can see 15th St and Main St. where the traffic flows is very good as well.
If you look in the south west corner of the photo, just below Main and 17th St.,
you can see the pollution from the "Airport Industrial Park"
and very south west corner of the Airport is in the Photo
at the intersection of Main and 18th St.

(Photo # 10027)

Here is another wide angle with a better look at the pollution from AIP.

(Photo 10023t)

A closer look at the new 16th St side road and
2 lane traffic circle at Cody and 16th St.
(photo 10022t)

Airport City is experiencing a nice growth spurt.
I'm not sure if the 16th St. improvements are the reason
for the growth, but I sure it didn't hurt.
(Photo 10025t)

I am also getting a Traffic warning for Airport City.
That may be my next project?

Health care is starting to cry for more money and
I'm sure education is not to far behind.
(I may have to check each be for my next project).
There was a traffic warning in one of my uptown neighborhoods.
It didn't look like it needed immediate attention.
To get uptown from the 16th St HWY. You take Main St or Cody rd.
West until you get to about 4th or 5th Street,
go north past the University and your Up Town.

16th Street HWY - Competition and Results

16th Street HWY - Competition and Results

Sim Date- 12.31.286
Population- 378,200

16th St. Before Construction

Traffic problems at intersection (Cody & 16th), on 16th St, and in the
Neighborhoods of S. Cody Road Sub-division and Airport City.

Photo 10014

16th St. after construction.

Although the traffic on 16th St. and Cody rd. has improved to green
and shown a improvement at the Corner of (16th & Cody).

Traffic in the Neighborhoods of S. Cody Road Sub-division and
Airport CityHas gotten worst, way to much so.

Photo 10013

I could try just wiping out the exit ramps,
but I don't think the Sub-divisions would have smooth
traffic with only one way in and out of them?

I could put side/service road in (like along Main St. and 15th St.),
The traffic flows pretty well there
(Mostly Green and Yellow with Some Orange flow),
but that would destroy a lot of property and take up a lot of space.

(Main and 15th St. Has Service Roads) Lower Left (16th and Cody) Upper Right

Photo 10001

(Main and 15th St.) Notice Service Roads.

Photo 10003

but if you look at (Main and 15th St.) in the picture above,
between Main St, and the Rail Road. The buildings to the south of Main St.
have ran out of room to grow back to tall buildings like they once were.

So you can see how side roads take up a lot of building room.

The real problem is I need to get traffic to use the primary road
and not travel thought the neighborhoods.

If you have any suggestion, please feel free to comment.
Thanks, Louie
